Nothing says summer cooking like a good ol' barbecue. I decided to play around with a new recipe and came up with these delicious Strawberry Shortcake Grillers. They were easy, tasty, and a great snack/dessert.
What You'll Need:
One carton of strawberries
Angel food cake (I used mini rounds, but you can use an entire cake if you'd like)
BBQ safe skewers
One small can of condensed milk
White Chocolate Chips (optional)

Wash your strawberries thoroughly. Cut the stems off and cut in half.
Cut the angel food cake into small bite size pieces. I cut small angel food cake rounds into quarters, but I could have done smaller pieces too.
If you're a fan of chocolate, carefully stick some chocolate chips into the cake. Be careful or the cake will crumble.
Lightly coat the strawberries and cake pieces with condensed milk. Don't dip them or they will drip everywhere! I used my (clean) finger and a small shot glass of condensed milk to coat it on, because I didn't have a cooking brush.
Put the strawberries and cake on the skewer. You can do whatever pattern you want! I did stawberry-cake-strawberry-cake.

Place an aluminum foil sheet on your grill. Grill for four minutes on each side. The angel food cake will get brown on the outside, giving it a small crisp! If you used chocolate chips, they will melt as well. **Always use caution when grilling and moving kabobs.**
Enjoy as a snack, dessert, or special treat. These would be great with some blueberries as a Fourth of July treat!
